The first Grand Prize of the 2026–2027 licence cycle was drawn on 31 July 2026 at 10:00 CST.

The July 2026 Grand Prize was drawn at 10:00 CST on 31 July 2026 and paid $12,340 to the holder of the winning number. Two Early Bird prizes of $1,000 each were drawn earlier in the month. The Foundation’s share of the month’s sales goes straight into capital medical equipment for Lake of the Woods District Hospital. Winners are published here once identity and purchase have been verified.

Monitors funded by 50/50 proceeds are now in daily use across inpatient and ambulatory areas.

A set of vital signs monitors funded by proceeds from the LWDHF 50/50 raffle is now in daily use at Lake of the Woods District Hospital. The monitors track heart rate, blood pressure, temperature and oxygen saturation, and replace older units that had reached the end of their service life. Equipment like this is bought outright by the Foundation and handed to the hospital.

The surgical retractor system was funded entirely from 50/50 raffle proceeds.

A Bookwalter Retractor Set has been delivered to the operating room at Lake of the Woods District Hospital. The system holds surgical exposure steady during abdominal procedures, freeing the surgical team’s hands and shortening operating time. The purchase was funded entirely from LWDHF 50/50 raffle proceeds.

$18 million and counting: what your support has built

Since 1992 the Foundation has contributed more than $18 million to Lake of the Woods District Hospital.

Since it was founded in 1992 the Foundation has contributed more than $18 million to Lake of the Woods District Hospital. That total covers diagnostic imaging, surgical instruments, monitoring equipment, beds and mattresses, and software upgrades that keep existing machines in service. The Foundation is run by an eleven-member volunteer board and three staff, supported by more than 2,500 volunteer hours a year.

Video endoscope now in use in ambulatory care

A new video endoscope shortens waiting times for diagnostic procedures close to home.

A video endoscope funded by the Foundation is now in use in ambulatory care at Lake of the Woods District Hospital. The equipment supports diagnostic procedures that would otherwise mean travelling out of the district, which matters for patients coming from communities around Lake of the Woods.

Laparoscopic telescopes in service in the operating room

Keyhole surgery at LWDH now uses telescopes bought outright with 50/50 proceeds.

A set of laparoscopic telescopes funded from LWDHF 50/50 proceeds is in service in the operating room at Lake of the Woods District Hospital. Keyhole surgery means smaller incisions, less time in hospital and a shorter recovery at home. For a district where many patients travel a long way for surgery, a shorter stay is not a small thing.

CT software upgrade sharpens images without new hardware

The Foundation funded a software upgrade that got more out of the scanner already in place.

Not every purchase is a new machine. The Foundation funded a software upgrade for the hospital’s CT scanner, which improves image quality and shortens scan times on equipment that was already installed. It is the least visible kind of funding and among the most useful: the same scanner now does more, and does it faster.

Bone mineral densitometry unit arrives in diagnostic imaging

Bone density scanning is now available in Kenora rather than out of district.

A bone mineral densitometry (BMD) unit funded by the Foundation has been installed in diagnostic imaging at Lake of the Woods District Hospital. BMD scanning is how osteoporosis is found before a fracture happens, and having it in Kenora removes a long trip for patients who need it, many of them older and travelling in winter.

More than 2,500 volunteer hours behind last year’s fundraising

A small office with a light wooden desk, two visitor chairs and a window looking onto spruce trees

Eleven volunteer board members and a small staff team ran a full year of monthly draws.

The Foundation is run by a volunteer board of eleven directors and three staff, supported by more than 2,500 volunteer hours a year. Those hours sit behind every draw: selling tickets at the office, checking entries, verifying winners and handing the equipment over to the hospital. Since 1992 that work has contributed more than $18 million to Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
